Privacy Policy
The short version
- ScrollSafe works entirely on your phone. We have no servers that receive your data, and no accounts.
- Its accessibility service looks at the screen only in the short-video apps you choose, only to detect feeds like Reels or Shorts. It never reads your messages, passwords or what you type.
- Nothing it sees is stored or sent anywhere. Only simple block counts and times are kept on your device for your stats.
- No ads, no analytics, no tracking, and we never sell or share data.
1. Who we are
ScrollSafe is an app that blocks short-video feeds (such as Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, Facebook Reels, Snapchat Spotlight and TikTok) while leaving the rest of those apps working. In this policy "we" means the developer of ScrollSafe. Contact: weaponoid7798@gmail.com.
2. Accessibility Service: what it accesses and why
ScrollSafe's core feature uses Android's Accessibility Service API. Before you turn it on, the app shows a disclosure screen and asks for your agreement.
- Which apps: the service is limited to the supported short-video apps (Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, Snapchat, TikTok and similar apps such as Moj, Josh, Chingari and Kwai). It does not receive events from any other app.
- What it reads: the structure of the screen in those apps: names, IDs and labels of on-screen elements (for example a "Reels" tab or the Shorts player), and scroll events.
- Why: to tell whether a short-video feed is open and, if so, leave it (by pressing Back, going to the app's home tab, or returning to your home screen) and show a reminder. Nothing else.
- What it does not do: it does not record keystrokes, read your messages or chats, read passwords, take screenshots, or track your activity.
- Storage and sharing: the screen content the service sees is processed in memory and discarded. It is never saved, uploaded, shared or sold.
You can turn the service off at any time in Settings › Accessibility › ScrollSafe.
3. Information kept on your device
To run its features, ScrollSafe keeps the following only in the app's private storage on your phone:
| Data | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Your settings (chosen apps and feeds, schedules, break rules, theme) | To block what you asked for |
| Block events: time, which app and feed (for example "YouTube Shorts") | Stats, streaks and the "time back" estimate |
| Unlocks, breaks and daily allowance usage | Daily limits and streaks |
| Your Pro status as reported by Google Play | To unlock Pro features offline |
This data never leaves your device through ScrollSafe. It contains no content from your apps, no messages and no personal identifiers. Old stats are deleted automatically after about 400 days.
Android backup: if Android backup is turned on, Android may include your ScrollSafe settings in your Google account backup, and may copy settings and stats when you move to a new phone. This is handled by Android and Google under their own policies. You can turn backup off in your phone's settings.
4. Network use
ScrollSafe connects to the internet only to:
- Download updated detection rules (a small file describing what Reels/Shorts screens look like) from our hosting on Google Firebase. The request contains no user data. Like any web server, Firebase may process your IP address and basic request information in its logs.
- Google Play services for purchases, in-app updates and in-app review prompts (see section 5).
5. Third-party services
- Google Play Billing handles Pro subscriptions and the lifetime purchase. Payment details go to Google, never to us; the app only receives whether your purchase is active.
- Google Play In-App Updates and In-App Review may show Google's update or rating dialogs. Ratings you submit go to Google Play.
- Firebase Hosting (Google) serves the detection-rules file.
These services are governed by Google's Privacy Policy. ScrollSafe contains no advertising SDKs and no analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.
6. Permissions
- Accessibility Service: to detect and close short-video feeds, as described in section 2.
- Notifications (optional): to warn you if blocking stops and to send an optional evening summary.
- Internet: for rule updates and Google Play services.
- Package visibility for the supported apps and for phone-maker battery settings: to show which supported apps are installed, show their icons, and open the right battery settings screen. We don't collect or send your app list.
7. What we don't do
We don't collect personal information, don't require an account, don't show ads, don't use analytics or tracking, and don't sell, rent or share any data with anyone.
8. Your choices and deleting your data
- Turn off the accessibility service in Settings › Accessibility › ScrollSafe.
- Delete all ScrollSafe data with Settings › Apps › ScrollSafe › Storage › Clear storage, or by uninstalling the app.
- Cancel a subscription in Google Play › Payments & subscriptions.
Because we don't hold any of your data on our side, there is nothing for us to delete or export on request, but you're welcome to contact us with any question.
9. Children
ScrollSafe is a general-audience productivity app and is not directed at children under 13. It collects no personal information from anyone.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change how ScrollSafe handles data, we'll update this page and the effective date above, and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
